The city of Bochum is missing a multifunctional meeting place, a place where different uses and activities can take place. The combination of sport and leisure activities plays an important role. In my draft combines sports like hockey (main use), basketball, handball, curling and figure skating, evening-and freetime activities such as concerts (capacity: 6,000 people), restaurant, nightclub and ice skating.
The big ice surface here is the "backbone", on which by reducing the installation of an insulated floor, the other uses are possible. An additional (small) ice surface is located near the Big one. Their use is particularly suited for leisure events, the connection to this great hall creates an even bigger use and is made possible by Iceramps.
 

Access to the new ice arena Bochum via the cross Stadionring und Castroper Straße. Here you enter the arena either through two flights of stairs or a ramp that leads visitors into the peripheral boulevard. Another ramp is located opposite and thus forms the opening of the garage.
Entering the building you are in the Boulevard, which serves as the visitor lobby. From here you can reach over ten entrances to the grandstand, four stairways provide for the development of the upper levels. The grandstands are arranged in the interior oval shape around the ice and can accommodate about 4,000 spectators. Due to the small distance above the playing surface is a "cauldron" atmosphere ("Hexenkessel-Atmosphäre") created that brings the viewer closer to the sports events.
On the Boulevard level there are snack and beverage stores, on the first floor lounge, the direct eye both on the playing field as possible on the road. On the third floor leads to the upper grandstands.
Access to the small ice rink is a sloping ramp into the basement. Located here are the changing rooms, a gym, a discotheque, meeting rooms and offices, a shop, a cafeteria, the skate rental and equipment rooms. The nightclub is independently accessible from the ice rink. The separate entrance to the players over the garage to provide direct access to dressing rooms to the separation of spectators and players.
