The Pavillon Special//00 prototype, was an initiative by M.Cainer, to launch this concept as an international Pavillion competition, through the construction of a first prototype with our sem.1 students during Fall 2010 in the E.S.A. Paris. As an assistant tutor next to M.Cainer, I had the opportunity to be an active part of this courageous attempt, teaching and building alongside with our first semester students. The project was split into three phases. Firstly, all students submitted an individual pavillion proposition, and after this first jury among 25 projects the jury chose five which would advance to the next stage. Students then were split into five groups, to work on the projects which had beenpreviously selected. Then after a second jury, under the presence of O. Decq, The hury chose the project which was to be constructed, for the inauguration of the Nuit Speciale Hiver 2010 and presented as the prototype launching the international competition “Pavillon Speciale”.
By now we have already seen the first two winning projects(2011 pavillion by Cloud9, and 2012 pavillion by Ball&Nogues) having been constructed at the garen of the Ecole Special d’Architecture in Paris.
