Nicole Little recently received a dual Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the University at Buffalo where she specialized in "Ecological Practices" and "Healthy Communities" for Architecture and Urban Planning, respectively. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a minor in Environmental Design, also at the University at Buffalo, in 2017.

Her research interests bridge these two fields by with a focus on the social-ecological systems that regulate the lifespans of buildings and building materials, while her methodological interests are concerned with using sustainability as a lever for social health and wellbeing, through community-engaged research and design. Nicole is passionate about creating inclusive, design-oriented projects which imagine new alternatives for sustainable, equitable, and healthy communities - encouraging a transformation towards a sustainable and just future of the built environment. She is equally as passionate about communicating these ideas in creative, unconventional ways within the fields of architecture and urban planning; for example, she created a graphic novel to represent her thesis findings - which were more easily shared with resident stakeholders and neighborhood advocates who participated in the process.

Over the past four years, Nicole has worked at the Community of Excellence in Global Health Equity at UB - a research group whose mission is to tackle the complex global health challenges of today’s world using an innovative interdisciplinary, impact-oriented, equity-focused approach. Her graphics have been featured in a wide array of the groups' publications and other materials for research, education, and outreach. She previously worked as an intern with the UB Center for Urban Studies, where she taught middle schoolers from BPS and coached them through the Future Cities Competition, and as an architectural intern for NYS OGS Design and Construction.
