I am an architectural designer who graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) with an Architecture Masters w/Structures Option. I selected this as the focus of my Masters program because I believe understanding and expressing structure is an important element of design.

Although that is a belief I still hold to be true, after taking a course in Integrated Building Systems, I now believe that Integrated Design is the best design approach. Integrated Design, wherein all elements of a building (including structure) are considered in the initial stages of design, is key to delivering efficient and accomplished architecture.

What most concerns me when designing is that the users have a fulfilling experience within the space and that this be directly tied to the function of said space.
