Patano Studio Architecture worked with the City of Olympia Department of Parks and Recreation and Anchor QEA on a significant renovation of Percival Landing on Olympia's waterfront.  Percival Landing is the City's front porch on the Puget Sound and one of the most popular outdoor facilities for local residents.  However, the site has deteriorated over the years and concern for public safety led to the establishment of a Concept Plan to serve as a framework for phased rehabilitation for Percival Landing.

p+ designed (4) pavilions along the waterfront promenade; the pavilions are located at street ends.  These structures - with exposed timber framing, metal and translucent roofing - create sheltered outdoor gathering places, and serve to frame and orient visitors to views of Puget Sound.  The pavilions are conceived as "living libraries" and will house cultural, historic, artistic and interpretive elements and have drawn upon natural and historic forms as a reference point.  

Patano Studio designed a new Bathhouse building that will serve both park visitors and marina guests, and will provide the City with a dynamic and welcoming place for meetings, weddings or other community events within the glazed "flex space" at the western edge.  The flex space design incorporates language similar to the pavilions, and the bathhouse creates a contemporary connection to Sam Percival's original ticket house.  An interactive and interpretive playground will be located adjacent to the bathhouse facility; intergenerational design elements take into account the experience of park users of all ages and abilities.

The scope also includes replacement of the existing boardwalk structure, new floating docks, shoreline habitat enhancements, and improved access (pedestrian and vehicular), site lighting and coordination with existing and future public art projects.
