A 44 room hotel on the Liburnian riviera of the municipality of Opatija. The hotel is placed on a narrow strip of land between a road to the north and the sea to the south. Due to large differences in elevation of the road and the sea, visitors approach the hotel from the roof.
It consists of independent or grouped room units, clad either in stone or black plaster. Owing to the extreme narrowness of the site, the building’s southern elevation varies in such a way as to make all of the rooms different. They vary in width, the depth of the adjoining loggias and the light admitted to individual rooms. The hotel interior is dominated by coloured or patinated concrete surfaces. Grey sprayed concrete on the excavated cliff forms a backdrop to the black and white building.
Hotel forms an ensemble with a neighbouring privately owned villa.
