CONCEPT
The story of Liberty Town Center is of a place that has grown over time, expanding from the east to the west. It started with the Iron Foundry and a small district of warehouses, and grew with the addition of the Town Square, the arts and cultural district, a chapel, and the latest addition - a newer edgier urban entertainment district.
The “Old Meets New” concept uses adaptive re-use of the old industrial warehouse district, and turns it into a lively new hip destination. The original buildings are repurposed and combined with modern design to make this an eclectic and authentic marriage of old and new.
The design strategy is to view the space as a series of warehouse buildings that have been united under one roof...so the retail would be comprised of a series of shifting “buildings” and the spaces in between are a series of streets and alleys. The Iron Foundry anchors the east side of the Mall and the department stores...it becomes the unifying social hub and focal point. There is even a design nod to the old smokestacks from the factory...
