The winners of the best architects 25 award have been revealed, with 83 projects across Europe recognized for their outstanding achievements and innovative architectural designs. Eight works received gold awards for their particular quality.
This year's jury, comprised of Matthias Castorph (Munich, Germany), Maria Saiz (Vevey, Switzerland), and Michael Salvi (Vienna, Austria), described the field of winners as diverse, complex, and creative.
"The era of large forms seems to be over for good," the award organizers summarized. "A colorful mixture of styles and concepts shows that each project was developed from the specific task and is often deeply interwoven with the location and its users."
Projects from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria were primarily represented, with some works out of France, Italy, Liechtenstein, and the Netherlands also being honored, including a notable MVRDV scheme, HAUS 1 – Atelier Gardens, winning in the Renovation and Addition category.
