The shortlist for this year's AR Public Awards from The Architectural Review has been revealed following their selection by a three-judge panel. A total of 15 projects made the cut for what the publication says is an award of pivotal importance given the threat to public space posed by current political tradewinds across the globe.
Projects as far-ranging as inner Mongolia and the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas were selected along with designs from Ireland, India, Tanzania, and Turkey. Their programs are as varied as a hybrid library and sports center. Judges were said to be looking for not just the "design and landscape architecture within the site but also how the site interacts with the wider city or surrounding context" to make their determinations.
The winner and highly commended or commended projects will be announced in July.
