Fifteen residential designs from around the world have made the shortlist for the Architectural Review's latest AR House awards competition.
The panel of judges this year included Stephanie Davidson (co-founder of Davidson Rafailidis, winner of AR House 2020: Big Space, Little Space); Lina Ghotmeh (founder of Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture); and Daniel Tudor Munteanu (founder and editor of the research project OfHouses).
Per the Architectural Review, "The judges were more interested in ‘social and political relevance’ than ‘the beauty of details and spaces’. They looked for projects that demonstrated ‘resourcefulness, imagination, and optimism’, while providing ‘intimacy and a feeling of home’. They paid particular attention to architects ‘working with what’s at hand’ and ‘giving agency to existing buildings, without passing judgement’."
The winning house will be announced later this month — stay tuned to find out here.
