HENN scored first prize in the competition to design the new CAMPUS ’25 office building for the Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich regional bank in Linz, Austria. Located between the Blumau Tower and Südbahnhofmarkt, the new 30,000 m² building will revive the campus with new co-working zones, shops, restaurants, exhibition spaces, and improved outdoor public spaces.
The German architecture practice is no stranger to designing corporate office headquarters. Some of their competition-winning projects in recent years include offices for Continental AG, Zalando, and Shenzhen software company Kingdee, to name a few.
HENN shared more details about their CAMPUS '25 design below.
Key objectives for the project's design were openness, flexibility, and multi-functionality, including several services and facilities that will be open to the public. Featuring a cubic, staggered form, the “solitary building closes a gap between the bank’s main complex and the Blumau Tower. The new business headquarters is expected to house 1,000 staff members. What emerges from the design is an urban and networked central location which facilitates collaboration and communication – equally for the people of Linz and the staff of the Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich alike,” HENN describes.
The building's exterior and interior are connected by an atrium that “extends itself as a spatial continuum to embrace the individual working spaces and beyond to the roof terraces. The effect is that of a three-dimensional plaza, which zones the multiple floors via the large open space, gives the offices rhythm and cadence, and incorporates the whole into the neighboring vicinity. The lower stories fuse to form generous and flexible occupancy areas, which morph in the upper stories to become modern office worlds.”
The building's “staggered, terraced vertical evolution acts as a mediating force between the Blumau Tower and the main offices. The interior plaza is additionally emphasized through its visual enunciation in the facade of the building, creating a hovering impression on the upper levels.”
