Celebrating its 500th anniversary, the National Estate of Chambord is staging an exhibition entitled Chambord, 1519-2019: l’utopie à l’œuvre, centered on concepts such as the history and projected future of Chambord, political, social, and environmental utopia, and ideal architectures.
Launched in 2018 by Dominique Perrault and the Domain national de Cham-bord, the "Unfinished Chambord" called for projects to focus on the architecture of the castle and propose a revived architectural utopia for Chambord. The goal of the competition allowed for students to reflect on the reality of the castle by its fictional representation. Among the 18 awarded submissions projects were selected from SCI-Arc's Elena Manferdini's vertical studio, Rice School of Architecture, La Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Anáhuac de México, and L’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Nancy.
Below are the selected students and a few images of their work which will be exhibited as part of a student exhibition at the Château de Chambord from May 26th to September 1st, 2019 titled Utopia at Work.
