The RIBA Client of the Year award recognizes that great architecture is often born from a good relationship between a client and an architect. At its core, architecture is a service industry; architects don't work for themselves but for clients who have say on a range of decisions effecting design outcomes. With the Client of the Year award, RIBA honors those notable clients, their role in the creation of fine architecture, and the positive impact that they can help create for local communities.
This year, four projects have been shortlisted for the award: The Bloomberg offices designed by Foster+ Partners, recognized for its exquisite execution and they way the building engages the city at street-level; The Kings Crescent Estates, a refurbished housing project that combined community with local-authority led development; R7/Kings Cross designed by Morris+Company and Weedon Architects, recognized for pushing the next generation of workspaces; and St David's Hospice Care, which had unusually insightful clients championing international best practices for end-of-life care through design. Take a look at the projects below!
