Even as a globally renowned practice, Zaha Hadid Architects continues to evolve in their design process. The upcoming exhibition “Zaha Hadid Architects: Evolution” chronicles ZHA's journey from analogue to digital methods over the last three decades.
Presented by TheGallery at the Arts University Bournemouth in collaboration with AUB's Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture and Zaha Hadid Architects, the exhibition will be open starting this Thursday, February 15 through April 19.
Curated by Dr. Christian McLening and Woody Yao, the exhibition will showcase ZHA's handmade models, sketches, drawings, computer renders, animations, paintings, 3D printed models, prototypes and videos.
Full design archives of early works like the Rosenthal Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati will be displayed alongside current projects that were developed via digital methods used by the firm — specifically the ZH Virtual Reality Group, the ZH CoDe (Computational Design) research group, and ZH Analytics and Insights.
AUB's Modelmaking degree students also created models specifically for the exhibition in their coursework. The models explore how materiality, scale, composition, and proportion can affect the perception of architectural designs.
