Blair Kamin wrote an article in the Sunday Tribune touching on the topic of modern architecture preservation, or lack there of. It was interesting he brought up Breur's Cleveland trust but failed to mention Gross Point and the successful effort of MAPA to save it even though a member had sent the details of the effort to him. Well - that must be the creative license one takes when you're just a critic. Full article here.

what about mapa? i think the short answer is that mapa doesn't yet have enough credibility to get much "mainstream" recognition.
no but the effort was truely worthy of mention - concidering the article was about grass roots action.
Speaking of mapa - did miller get in contact with the ingenuity people to get copies of the entries for web publication?
for those in the chicagoland and northern illinois area these guys are doing a 'recent past' survey if you know of a noteworthy modern or postwar buildings in the area.

there is a form to fill out and also contact info for buildings that might be threatened. you can even include photos.
seemed like the article was more about loss, not rescue. kamin mentions some small save efforts three-quarters of the way down, but that's not really his subject. i'm glad he's making note of the issue. not too worried about mapa...we'll rise up again where the circumstances are right.
