Product simulations are prohibited. Projects cannot simulate events to demonstrate what a product might do in the future. Products can only be shown performing actions that they’re able to perform in their current state of development.
Product renderings are prohibited. Product images must be photos of the prototype as it currently exists.

Last night, in a blog post titled "Kickstarter Is Not a Store", Kickstarter announced that it will no longer accept renderings of products or projects seeking funding.
What do you think about their decision to enforce realistic proposals by limiting virtual representation?

Does this mean Kickstarter is ruling out anyone proposing new environments? This would mean no plans either! What about placing large disclaimers by images of proposals not yet fabricated?
i think the problem with kickstarter is that it has become something much more than the people who started it wanted it to. Kickstarted was started as a way to fund non-profit, start up projects. People are now using it to fund any number of businesses.
Unless kickstarter changes their ways, they will be replaced by a company that doesnt discriminate against what they fund
How can they complain about the type of projects that we see on Kickstarter? Every single Kickstarter project is subject to a review process before the project is allowed on the site. If they don't want commercial projects that launch products, DON'T APPROVE SAID PROJECTS!
Kickstarter is still around? They were cool for only two weeks.
Kickstarter should allow renderings. Dezeen should ban them.
I think that the renderings ONLY apply to product and hardware designs. As an installation is not one of these, it is still allowable. Aren't we, as architects, supposed be familiar with negotiating these kinds of categorical distinctions and regulations? N.B. I still disagree with the heavy-handed approach to representation
So go back to making models?
What the hell? How is someone supposed to sell anything if they are not allowed to lie? Kickstarter has lost their minds, yo!
