yeah...i remember this series of graffitti paintings in Ugly buildings in NYC couple of years ago... the letters FUB! appeared in the walls of the buildings.... (F*cking Ugly Building!)...
actually i think i read that at archinect...but like ages ago....
"...Ugliest Building:The Whitney Museum
Expert: Chad Smith, architect and writer, author of Tropolism
Sometimes I think ugly works, brilliantly. For example, the Whitney Museum is ugly, in the sense that it's raw concrete, windowless upper stories, and brutal anti-grav profile are very alien to most other buildings..."
the Whitney is one of my fav buildings of NYC... that and the Folk Art Museum of W&T...how he dares?!?!?!
those are on the top of my list for nyc too, MAD...but Smith agrees with us, "...while I might describe it as ugly, it's also my favorite building in Manhattan. The best brutalist buildings do what the Whitney does: create a careful balance between material rawness and elegant connections."
I like John Hill's it's my Ugly in a box breakdown, "Step 1: Hire Norman Foster."
mmhh Arquitectonica, we should then do an article about famous offices w/the worst taste...hehehe cause they have ugly buildings in NY, Miami, etc etc etc

That Westin hotel that Arquitectonica did HAS to be one of the ten ugliest buildings in NY.
