The Gleaming Towers of Gehry is the title and the url address mentions buzz-of-bizarre-buildings. Not a bad source for mainstream Gehry awareness. I'd like to see more public comments.
Who ever mentioned Gaudi, shows you know Jack about architecture. Pick up a history book you idiot. Gaudi is the father of zoomorphism... Gehry has taken postmodernism to a new level..
Postmodernism is in no was a reflection or imitation of zoomorphism.
you dumbass

In response to jennifercobler,
You might want to try painting your room, lets say, hot pink. That's different, new, and intersesting right? Next week, it's an eyesore. It would be painted over within the year. Gehry is the same way. In a few years, his "artwork" not buildings will be old news. Ugly, an eyesore. Don't replace practicality with a desire to be "different."

I think he is very creative and as long as his building serve there purpose, then props to him. Why does a building always have to be square?

Anyone stupid enough to pay $850 for a chair made out of cardboard deserves to live in a building like this.
He must have been on that stuff when he designed that building. Boy That's Crazy!!!!

I miss Gaudi.

They are simply...ugly. I don't see anything attractive about them in anyway. Then again I don't exactly get off on Picaso either. LOL

Eventually, this architecture will be crumpled and thrown away like the paper they were first conceived on.

I work in the Walt Disney Hall that was designed by Frank Gehry. Let me tell you, the actual inside space is completely non-functional!!! There are so many design flaws that make working in here a pain the butt!
Posted by: juzumm@sbcglobal.net at October 07, 2006 8:17 PM
You all need to chill. Who cares if YOU like his architecture or not. If YOU don't like Mexican food, does that mean mexican chefs should not be allowed to cook? Personally, I think its refeshing to have options. Just relax and enjoy the ride. It can be a lot of fun if you don't take things too seriously - especially something as trivial as architecture.

Just another example of function following a distant second to form. So many of todays "esteemed" and publicly praised architects are meerly designing for themselves. They've lost touch with the purpose of their field.

Gehry designed a building at the University of California, Irvine, named the Center for Embedded Computer Systems (also know as IERF, I forgot the ackronym) and like most of his projects, it was a maintenance nightmare. It leaks everywhere because of his design flaws, and the roof actually slopes onto a walkway so pedistrians take a shower every time it rains. This guy should be locked up and the key should be burried under one of his buildings after they load it with dynamite, and blow it to bits...

im an architect myself, and i've come to realize that buildings come and go but what matters is the word of God. is he a christian? I don't think so, I think he's an arrogant, conceited atheist who falls in love in his ego. that makes him another fool

i wonder if any of the people who are so critical, have ever designed a large museum that is world famous?

Amazing Work!! It is incredible, and for all the people who don't like it - you are just jealous that ou didn't come up with it first. You bet ur butt if i ever strike it rich i will have a Frank Gehry original !

His designs really represent the fact that we are truly living in the 21st century.

Architecture is not a painting, a song, a sculpture, a new pasta dish, a new dress...it is public. And, its responsibility to the public should be open to discourse, not the whims of publicity-seeking developers.
