just what istanbul needs. another shopping mall. i wonder how they'll survive with probably astronomical rents. a gated community and expensive shops at its best. looks like a water slide or something with a loose connection to famous house of nations competition in the condo part. i don't see much about it in turkish papers.

Just for the record, it seems that the development itself is only on one continent; it's Istanbul that straddles two.
The development doesn't participate in the straddling, so to speak... Though perhaps I could straddle the building.
I think it's metaphorical. Straddling is like bridging, but more flexible and less decisive.
it is really a strangle, knowing the developer.
