The 6,500 acre site where many of the cold war's deadliest weapons were manufactured will soon become a wildlife sanctuary, as the biggest environmental scrub in the US has recently been declared "officially" complete. The effort, though monumental, has not evolved without considerable controversy. Class action lawsuits against site operators are still in the works, who were said to lie about the extent of the health risks and damage involved. The CEO responsible for the clean up has not yet been fully relieved, either. Len Ackland tells the story through this online virtual exhibit created in conjunction with the University of Boulder's Center for Environmental Journalism, and in his book: Making a Real Killing : Rocky Flats and the Nuclear West.
