The NYT covers Rand's plans for a Palestinian state with architect Doug Suisman, who admits that for the purpose of planning, they set aside the issue of Israeli settlements. And so, understandably, Palestinian leaders find this negligence as an endorsement rather than a neutrality to the settlements, and continue to express their deeper fears that Rand's plan for the Arc, as much of a starting blueprint as it may be, could just turn out another high-profile action grab associated with Israeli control. Who are Doug Suisman and Rand to the Palestinian people anyway? Fuck them. Take this loop and shove it. Palestinians are tired of 'blueprints'.
Suisman is a great city designer, although I have to agree the politics of this thing are very troubling.
