On Friday, the Make It Right Foundation sued its former executive director, Tom Darden III, along with the former treasurer and other officials, accusing them of mismanaging the $65 million project between 2007 and 2016. The suit, filed in in Civil District Court, also alleges that Darden and the others misled fellow Make It Right officials, including Pitt. — nola.com
The legal saga around the Make It Right Foundation continues: after facing a lawsuit of their own for delivering improperly constructed homes as part of the initiative's high-profile post-Hurricane Katrina housing initiative in New Orleans and then suing the architect responsible for the flawed designs, the foundation is now reportedly taking aim at former executive director Tom Darden III and other leadership team members.

Post-Katrina development was a money grab from day one. The pirahnas descended on NO with the sole intent of stuffing themselves. If the could use a celebrity for promotion, all the better.
Capitalism at work.
As it looks sharing the blame and going pointing the finger with legalities does not help the people intended.
Sadly no one seems to be actually qualified even with the titles. Overseeing a development of this nature from beginning to end by a development manager is also key, not only from the design but the quality of materials used to step by step seasoned builders.
People of the intended deserved more. Celebrity or no celebrity, professionals at all levels should take responsibility.
I disagree that this was “a money grab” it’s more like an architecture grab. The creative ambitions and positive desire to help mixed with a lack of critical regional thinking, and an arrogance about the simplicity of the tas are the root cause of the problems with these homes.
We can also say that this highlights the critique by DSB of an “architecture for the people” mindset.
