President Trump is preparing to divert an additional $7.2 billion in Pentagon funding for border wall construction this year, five times what Congress authorized him to spend on the project in the 2020 budget. — The Washington Post
According to The Washington Post, the funding would give the government enough money to complete about 885 miles of new fencing by spring 2022, far more than the 509 miles the administration has slated for the U.S. border with Mexico. So far the Trump administration has completed 101 miles of new barriers, which is less than the promised 450 miles due for the end of the year, reports The Washington Post.

Everyday, thousands of legally eligible people enter to the USA. PedWest Tijuana, MX.
Welcome. That's all I have to say...
What a gigantic waste of money.
build the moat!
The wall should be built around D.C.
Fully equipped with guard towers and topped with razor ribbon to keep the assholes in.
how many miles of High Speed Rail could you build with this waste? Unfortunately the far left is positioning 2020 as Trump vs Socialism.... we have gone full Weimar Republic .... case study in fall of empire. Rome grew when it included more into its Empire, died when it become corrupt and exclusive
If Biden were a competent politician, he’d be running on public option + HSR. Unfortunately he’s a doofus
Aside from Sanders and corporate welfare, what socialism?
Mexicans/Central Americans want to get in and work for opportunity and citizenship, HSR needs to be built but it’s too expensive. A solution so obvious only the Gov could miss it
interpol, you are full of shit! How did you connect me with the HSR discussion? Did I ever discuss this with you? You are like the Nazi youth who snitch on their parents with lies and made up words. Get a life!
This is just another one of those bad reality tv shows... right?
Well ok. Did I say anything other than a healthy opinion?
Why do you keep changing your name here?
A pile of crap by any other name still stinks. I like the way the blocking feature remains on when the blocked change their names.
I like it, and I used it for the first time. Good riddance!
Wow, you are a useless internet troll who gets off on this kind of stuff. You still have said nothing of Mexico more than your tango partner who we know spills out a lot of bs and racism. That picture of the border I posted is taken by me. I am talking about first hand experience.
Most people currently crossing the US-Mexico border are not Mexican. This isn't 1990.
Why Stripping U.S. Citizens of Their Passports Is a Precursor to Genocide?
Here are some lawless criminal rapists of Mexico threatening USA at the beach. You might ask, where are the people on the other side of the border? Well, my guess is, they are all in their curtains drawn homes watching Fox news and getting more paranoid and racist by the minute!

Again, personal video and first hand experience, not from the internet of polluted posers who are bypassing substantial amounts of humanity which they might not have in the first place...
Maybe the US side is afraid they might get some humanism disease so they razorwire the border crossing. Duh!
You're totally right Orhan. I definitively spotted someone wearing socks and sandals in there. Keep those animals away... Better add 8 more feet to that wall.
Chemex—I suspect you have a few years on you, like me. While growing up, I don't recall the word "socialism" being used in common or political discourse, except to identify genuinely socialist systems that wanted to nationalize private enterprises, etc. "Communism" during the Cold War years was another matter.
Now the word is used to describe disparagingly almost anything a government might do for the public good, at our expense, to the detriment of "freedom"—another term that has degenerated and lost any vital meaning. We are nearly paralyzed. I'm not sure even the term "public good" has much circulation.
I grew up during a robust era of public understanding. Kennedy, for example, could say in his inaugural address "ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country." I can't imagine candidates from either party saying similar today.
The wall more than anything is a symbol of corruption of the culture and its language, a concrete figure for abstract suspicion, fear, and hatred, all unexamined. It is not a symbol of freedom, or strength, or national identity, but of perversion. But of course using public funds to build it is not "socialism."
You have to wonder what language and unexamined assumptions are driving some of the other marvels we see on these pages.
Btw, the person who is in my ignore list, interpol, should be more careful of his/her namesake.
But then again, sometimes people reveal their true identity carelessly.

Keep it fresh?
Like I said above, 2020 problems will not be solved with 1990 thinking. Also Clinton was wrong, too.
The idiot gotcha tactic of pointing out a time when the Democratic party *also* did something awful is extremely, extremely tiring. Human rights is not a team sport.
Immigration in the 90's was largely poor Mexicans looking to make a better wage in The US, often in order to send money to family back in Mexico and eventually return.
Immigration in the 2010's is largely central american asylum-seekers trying to escape persecution and murder at the hands of cartels or governments.
They aren't the same.
Asylum is a human rights issue.
" immigrating illegally is ... illegal."
I agree the law needs major reform to make legal immigration significantly easier, so people are less motivated to pursue extralegal means.
Most illegal immigration is the direct result of US meddling in other countries. For example NAFTA decimated Mexican farmers. Military misadventures in Central America destabilized entire countries - and continues to do so.
interpol is blocked but from the response sounds like jlax.
He was worse than jlax. I disagree with jlax on many, many things, but at least he can form cogent sentences.
