After a six-month closure, James Turrell's site specific installation Meeting (1980-86/2016) reopens at MoMA PS1! Captivating audiences with his mesmerizing light installations, Turrell's piece was previously closed in January due to an unwanted construction scaffolding seen through the installation opening.
💙Our beloved #JamesTurrell Skyspace "Meeting" will reopen Thursday! The sunset lighting program will be partially visible during #UNIQLOFreeFridayNights and Warm Up! Sign up for our email list to be the first to hear when ticketed viewings restart: https://t.co/GQbSS5IqMu pic.twitter.com/9FUxoToCtV

The Art Newspaper reminds us of Turrell's start to the piece. "Meeting was commissioned in 1976 by PS1’s founder Alanna Heiss for the museum’s opening exhibition and is the first skyspace work Turrell made in the US."
Many fans of Turrell will be excited to witness another one of his iconic works. According to the museum's site, "When the sunset lighting program falls outside of regular museum hours, MoMA PS1 hosts special after-hours viewings on Monday evenings. Be sure to get your tickets to experience Turrell's entrancing work.

Visited over the weekend. Still problematic, as a smokestack or something that looks like a dick (or a Magritte painting) creeps into view as the sun begins to set. Maybe some might think it's cute or funny, but it reminds me of the infamous Museum Tower debacle in Dallas. Also, PS1 is a complete shitshow to begin with and the Warm Up series could use a bit of a rethink. Not impressed, MOMA.
