On August 24, 2018, the Atlanta Fulton Central Library was unanimously nominated to the National Register of Historic Places and listed on the Georgia Register of Historic Places by the Georgia National Register Review Board. Looks like the old Whitney Museum having a nervous breakdown.
Then again, many celebrated buildings today look nuts.
Invariably the people who want to save these things are not the people who have to work in, visit, or even see them on a daily basis.
Reminds me of a trip I took to Ohio recently. In Cincinnati, admiring this building while taking this photo, two men jogging by said to me..."it's beautiful" and went on their way. It's these kinds of experiences that affirm the importance of beauty in everyday people, regardless of politics. BTW, Cincinnati is lovely, we just need to get some jobs in those kind of cities quick. Many folks hurting.
