They may have a technical solution to storing thermal energy, but they don't have a solution to the bird kills and environmental devastation caused by the construction of acres of heliostats and pvs in pristine desert....
Janosh, if its not perfect lets just pack in in then and dig up some more coal...
A Mouse - Ivanpah is facing possible shutdown because it is so far out of compliance with its conditions of approval. It's not just that it's not perfect, it's that it isn't meeting any of the initial requirements, producing less power than projected, and in serious economic trouble. There are plenty of ways to generate zero carbon power that don't have the same negative environmental impacts.
