I want the house to be an educational tool for young architects, and I want to inspire good architecture for Los Angeles - James Goldstein — LATimes
In a most generous move, public in Los Angeles is assured to have access to a masterpiece designed by legendary architect and maintained by its colorful owner Jim Goldstein who dedicated a good part of his living to the healthy survival of the house.
"Even though he had the Concannon Residence torn down, to his credit, James Goldstein made sure in his will that the expanded Goldstein House, and with that the legacy of both structures, will never be sold. The compound could very well become a publicly accessible cultural treasure for the entire city." - Lautner's Concannon Residence, from Dust to Dust

This is a great thing. I sure appreciate and respect what Jim Goldstein has done and will continue to do for architecture, Lautner, and Los Angeles.
This house is one of my top 10 favorite pieces of architecture ever...
Jackie Treehorn won't be pleased.
Although this is a great get for LA, Govan and LACMA, Goldstein's influence on Los Angeles may not be a net positive. His record as a trailer park landlord and opponent of rent control is nothing to be proud of:

I like to do research
The Sheats/Goldstein House, however , is still Lautner’s project with the closet link to pornography . The porn video Unleashed (1996) was shot partly on location there. And two years later, in the Coen brothers’ film, The Big Lebowski, the house appeared as the Malibu beach house of pornographer, Jackie Treehorn.
...including to known pornographers, and that's cool...that's cool...
guess the first image was a bit much...the images and more on this are from this Curbed article
