Holidaymakers may soon be able to experience life under the sea by booking a stay at a futuristic hotel on the ocean floor.
The Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel has received USA Patent and Trademark approval as the world's first underwater hotel - with Egypt, Malaysia, Hawaii and the Bahamas revealed as some of the designers' preferred locations.
Guests would be treated to a one-of-a-kind panoramic view of sea life at a staggering 28ft (8.5 metres) below the surface.

Technically the hotel is a vessel, as the Daily Mail rightly points out, since it can navigate underwater and seek shelter if there's a hurricane. So basically, think of it as a cruise ship where you can't step out for a bit of fresh air.
"Rates will range between $3,000 to $6,000 for two underwater hotel guests AND two top-side guests who sleep on board the 63 foot catamaran support vessel," the Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel website states. "We are not accepting reservations until we begin fabrication. As soon as the $3,000,000 is received we will then begin accepting reservations."

Hopefully this amazing vessel won't suffer an unexpected disaster, where it tragically floats to the surface.
20,000 fathoms
$3000-6000 per night to stay in an underwater prison cell? what the hell do you do all day, just sit there looking at coral and watching tv?
this seems like an idea without any real understanding of hotel operations, rich tourists, or business strategy. their half finished website template and vague descriptions of their business and their plans suggests they have no capacity to get this done.
midlander - your name sums it up for your inaccurate comments. my father was an architect much like that of Frank Lloyd Wright. most importantly, my father taught me to dream and architects should have the capacity to do so. FYI our first location will be in the Maldives. When the time is right, we will unveil our entire project and your troll comments are rather disgusting for an architect. With you're arrogance - you should have been a lawyer.
I grew up watching Sealab 2020 in the 70's, it was amazing! If this wasn't so freakishly expensive and elitist, I would have loved to visit.
from the beginning of the project it was an affordable underwater hotel helping to fund coral reef restoration on a global scale. Our manufacturing/fabricating is at the nation's leading steel fabricator - located in Tampa, Florida. after the nation's best apply their efforts... we will ship it to the Maldives and display it LIVE to the world. with our underwater hotel patent, will give us protection to expand internationally. once investors have a solid ROI, then there should be an adjustment in the nightly rate. but this is being characterized as inner space tourism and if you were daring enough to participate in space tourism -- Sir Richard Branson $250,000 for a five minutes, 63 mile space flight.
