IE School of Architecture and Design surpasses the boundaries of conventional programs by combining design, innovation and management. Their Master Programs allow their students to acquire the skills needed in the world of architecture in order to develop successful careers. Moreover, all this is combined with direct and continuous contact with leading international professionals in architecture and design that confer to each of their programs the added value of learning from the experience of leaders in their fields.
Diversity among our students and faculty, who come to us from all over the world, creates a rich blend of cultures and a broad learning experience. Three locations give IE unique possibilities: the Madrid campus, a metropolitan setting for post-graduate discussion, the campus in historic Segovia, the venue for the bachelor's degree program, and finally, the virtual campus, a planet-wide space for online teaching. Educational excellence, international scope and entrepreneurship are our hallmarks that differentiate us from other educational institutions.
Becoming part of this community, which includes world leaders in corporate, non-profit, and government organizations, will be a valuable asset for a lifetime. Take a look at two of their most recent events.
REINVENTING THE RETAIL SECTOR
Last month, we hosted on our emblematic Paper Pavilion building, designed by well-known architect Shigeru Ban, the roundtable: Reinventing the Retail Sector.
An interesting debate was generated around how technology and globalization are transforming the retail sector. Nowadays, the act of purchasing has become an emotional experience, which is why the design of retail spaces has to be consumer centric.
IE's Master in Design for Work, Retail and Learning Environments focuses on three types of space that are most important for our everyday lives and which are the three realms where the most dramatic changes are occurring in terms of concepts, technology and cutting-edge innovation. Our students learn how to integrate design strategies, technology, user needs and corporate objectives. The innovative and pioneering profile of this Master program lies in the combination of IE's top-ranked business expertise and the creative approach of the IE School of Architecture and Design.
The event was jointly organized by IE School of Architecture and Design and our partner the Retail Design Institute (RDI).
THE WORLD ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL IN SINGAPORE
IE School of Architecture and Design became the knowledge partner of this year’s World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore, the world’s largest international architectural event. This year, our students won second prize at the Student Charrette contest at the WAF with their excellent project Adaptive Habitats. Congratulations to Carmen Magrazó, Aya Jazairi and Savitri Paisalwattana!
Adaptive Habitats is a design strategy that aims to develop and implement diverse schemes which respond to specific socio-economic, cultural, and climatic needs of one place.
IE Master in Architectural Management and Design bridges the gap between advanced design and the management skills that are essential to succeed in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry today. The program is designed to cover the specific needs of professionals who already have a sound working knowledge of theoretical and applied principles, and now wish to acquire and apply business expertise in the field of AEC.
