NCARB is phasing out the ARE 4.0 and introducing the ARE 5.0 in late 2016, which means that depending where you are with your licensing exams, you'll probably need to figure out how your ARE 4.0 credits apply to the new version. Anticipating this need, the NCARB has released a "Transition Calculator" that allows you to plan your test path. Of note: although the ARE 4.0 won't be officially retired until June 30, 2018, once you jump to version 5.0, you can't switch back.

A little clicking around on that ARE calculator makes it look like you can pass 3 ARE 4.0 divisions, and get credit for 4 5.0 divisions, is this ture?
...I guess the questions is, I'm pretty sure others have come to this conclusion after reading other discussions, am I the only one that thinks this might be a trap?
NCARB would never want to intentionally trap us into paying more money and taking and not passing more exams?
No free lunch someone is going to get screwed on this.
