For a fledgling startup, finding an office in San Francisco can be a real nightmare. Rents are now climbing past $60 a square foot, second only to Manhattan in the US [...].
This means young startups have to get creative if they insist on staying within the city. And Westfield, one of the world’s largest mall operators, has a solution for them: Bespoke, a 37,000-square-foot coworking and event space within its shopping center in downtown San Francisco.

The retail-focused membership seems like a cool twist on co-work spaces. I actually love the idea of a co-work space that also feels very accessible to people walking by - even in a mall, and perhaps especially in a mall, because malls demand less of a commitment to buy when one wanders into a store than when one wanders in off a street.
The space looks very well-done too (one of my local co-work spaces is done up in steampunk and despite the free beer tap the decor gives me hives), but what are those three folk waving their hands at the screens doing?! Interactive screens, or conjuring black magic?!
The only time Westfield SF looks like that is before it opens for the day - Westfield, SF is very noisy and crowded - then again there's a Jamba Juice down the hall and a Peet's Coffee for a quick sugar & Coffee rush.
