At the corner of Elizabeth and Kenmare Streets at the edge of NoLIta, demolition work began in early March to make way for a seven-story condominium, Mr. Ando’s first stand-alone project in the city, although he has designed a restaurant (Morimoto in Chelsea) and residential interiors in Manhattan.
Sales are expected to begin in April, with prices [...] likely to rise to more than $30 million for the four-bedroom penthouse, according to Mr. Steinberg.

Exclusive branding for ultra luxury sales. <yawn>
So what? It looks like a really great building. If it were low income housing, I guess it would be great then. Architects make buildings. Ando is the best.
250 year old wood though.... Sometimes we forget how expensive the materialist architects are.
Gotta wonder how long it will take the geniuses that buy these to curtain/shade/blind them up in competing colors and textures like an inverse shantytown. Or maybe they'll just strut their stuff like guests at the Standard New York.
Either way will be amusing.
