One World Trade Center is by far the world's most expensive building, coming in at $3.9B, nearly double the second-most expensive buildings, Vegas' Palazzo casino and London's The Shard, which both cost $1.9B to build. Perhaps even more surprising, Dubai's dizzying Burj Khalifa, currently the world's tallest building, comes in at number five — curbed.com

Would be nice to see GFA's just for comparison. Sheraton Huzhou seems disproportionately expensive for it's small size and relatively cheap local labor!
I wonder how complete this chart is. It seems like a chart of the most expensive recent commercial towers, plus the Elbephilharmonie. No doubt plenty power plants, airports and transit centers exceed 4 billion.
It would be interesting to compare costs of landmarks from different periods of time, adjusted for inflation. For example - how much of ancient Egypt's economy went into building tombs for dead pharaohs? How much burden did building Europe's great medieval cathedrals place on whoever it was who paid for them?
