It was smooth sailing for Seattle-based goCstudio's "wa_sauna" campaign, which aims to bring their wood-fired floating sauna project to life by next summer. Right now, the studio is working to have the first wa_sauna be built and is searching for the best locations for its 2015 launch.
Carvey: The 3D carving machine for the maker in all of us
Created by the Inventables, Carvey is a 3D-carving machine that let you make quality objects out of wood, metal, plastic and other materials in three steps: create your design on Easel (Carvey's software program), pick your material, and click carve. At this point, the Kickstarter has raised over $500K -- and it still has about three weeks left.
Hendo Hoverboards - World's first REAL hoverboard
Is this for real? Well, yes. The Hendo Hover team has created the first working hoverboard. Currently at its 18th prototype, the hoverboard functions through its core technology known as Magnetic Field Architecture (MFA™) that enables it to float 1 inch above the ground.
In the long run, the Hendo Hover team aims to release a hover developer kit and are designing a hoverboard park to test their ride. Makes you wonder what other possibilities MFA™ has in tow.
Urban Gridded Dogtag Jewelry Collection
A subtle way to show city pride. AMINIMAL Studio's Urban Gridded Dogtag jewelry collection definitely has the "I want one now" factor down, with over 120 maps of popular locations around the globe. Already funded and with 21 days left, a new set of cities is "unlocked" for every stretch goal that is reached. Backers can also vote for their favorite cities to be made.
Since 2010, London-based Studio Swine has been transforming collected sea plastic into Sea Chairs. More recently, the studio has designed their own solar-powered 3D printer to melt the plastic into various objects while out at sea. They plan on making more voyages to the North Atlantic Gyre to make a design collection for a touring exhibition, as well as a film to raise public awareness on the sea plastic problem.
The HEDGE planter by L.A.-based environmental designer Cora Neil is an easy motivating way to spruce up your everyday living spaces with more greenery. The planters are vividly painted but the thin steel frame doesn't make them overpowering. Each design is also named after a pioneer woman of landscape and garden design.
