The other five semi-finalist were MVRDV of the Netherlands, Kengo Kuma & Associates of Japan, Artech Architects of Taiwan, Valerio Olgiati of Switzerland, and Studio Daniel Libeskind of the U.S.
The international panel of judges was chaired by NPM Director Shih, and included Aaron Betsky, Director of the Netherlands Architecture Institute, Dr. Gary Hack, Chair of the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture, Dr. Robert Anderson, Former Director of the British Museum, Mohsen Mostafavi, Chair of the Cornell University College of Architecture, and Lin Sheng-fong (輿å‘Âå‚â€), Minister without portfolio in the Executive Yuan.
Mohsen said the judges sought a design that would become a visual symbol for both the museum and the local culture, and Predock's design achieved just that.
