Lian, our resident (and very popular) GSD school blogger is currently live blogging the discussion with Rafael Moneo and Peter Eisenman. Click here to follow along!
RM: Being at an advanced age, we are able to remember and talk about many people we have known. And we could say that art almost lives in the memories of everybody. But it makes sense to explain for ourselves how we saw things happen.
Peter suggested that we could talk about the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, and not the 90s. And he will talk about America and I about Europe...

Ask him if he's started paying his interns yet!
Someone did ask him that question, the last time he was at Harvard with Herzog. It was insufferable, and completely inappropriate in that context. If looks were daggers, Piper would have been riddled.
here's the exchange: http://www.eikongraphia.com/?p=2353
i was reading it up to the point i started my class around 1;30 pm. i didn't necessarily read anything damaging, dangerous or riveting either.
why is it necessary to censor this?
can this be read as increasingly secretive world of architectural education cult threatened by the changing times? or, is it the old adage of "gas, grass or ass, no one rides free (in gsd classrooms)" ?
i think they are one step away from banning the student to blog.
btw, egyptian government cut off facebook and twitter today.
See, I'm guessing (totally guessing) that people like Bjarke Ingels and Work AC and Ball Nogues tend towards the belief that any press is good press - that the more we all have to talk about, the more likely the quality of the conversation will be higher, more interesting, and fruitful.
I think of Eisenman and (sorry) Harvard as being so old guard that they feel more strongly about strictly controlling the public perception of their brand. This seems sadly out of touch.
Hey all!
Sorry about the post and de-post today. The event felt so public that I forgot that it was a class--and the usual protocol is to ask permission before blogging events in classes, which I did not do today. The GSD as an institution really isn't so private, but the school does its best to respect individuals' relative privacy in non-public forums. And I do my best (with the occasional slip-up) to abide by this too.
But the next time these guys speak in a public forum, I'll be there, blogging!
can you leave pe out please! he has enough outlets. better to hear from people with less access to media. everybody does pe.
