In a paper he recently published in the International Journal of Modern Physics B, Tao points to two regions of China... that have a similar geographic location as the Midwest—but far fewer tornadoes. The difference, he says, is that China's plains are surrounded by three east-west mountain ranges, which slow down passing winds enough to prevent tornados from forming.
Tao, then, is essentially suggesting we build mountain range-sized walls across Tornado Alley...

There are so many things wrong with that scenario I wouldnt know where to start.
Who would take this seriously? Tornados come with that territory. and with climate change all our weather's going to be more sever and less predictable. get used to it.

Maximum recorded tornado wind speed is 305 mph. This would require design for a minimum wind load of 240 PSF. Every lineal foot of the 1,000' high wall will require lateral bracing capable of withstanding at least 240,000 lb.
Lets see some design proposals!
