The DuPont™ Corian® Design Studio opened last summer in the Flatiron District of New York City. The studio, designed by NYC-based Morris Sato Studio, acts not only a showroom for DuPont's innovative line of products, but also a workspace for architects to collaborate with material experts to develop unique uses for the DuPont™ Corian® solid surface material.

The 5,000 sq, ft. space is sectioned into various vignettes representing healthcare, office, hospitality, retail, education and residential material applications.







The architects united the space with 74 suspended light tubes from the Corian® Illumination Series, titled the "starry-sky universe", interacting with visitors as they move about the studio.







Corian®, as most architects and designers are aware, is a versatile material that has generated a lot of excitement in the design world through its innovate applications and interior detailing. Corian® can be easily formed by heating it to a relatively low temperature of 300°F.
