Kahn was one of three founding members of IDEA Office, formerly the Central Office of Architecture. He originally opened the office in 1987 together with fellow architects Ron Golan and Russell N. Thomsen. In 2009, he renewed his long-standing partnership with Thomsen to form IDEA Office. Their work includes design at all scales, from graphic design to installations and industrial design, to architecture and urban planning — sciarc.edu

Eric was an incredible professor and brilliant idea generator. He was by far one of the most inventive and forward thinking professors I've had. This news is incredibly sad, he will be sorely missed.
I still thought of him as relatively young and on the up-swing.....
A real loss of a great guy. I met him when he was working for Morphosis on Stoner Ave. around mid 80's.
Eric was an excellent studio instructor with rich imagination. He was generous with his time and took efforts to connect with his students, inspiring them. I am sad to read of his passing. May he rest in peace.
Too soon Dear Eric.... You will be missed.
I visited his parents who were neighbors of friends of ours and saw his remodel of their Gregory Ain trackhouse. in WLA. Very early in hios career.
Very sad.
I met Eric a couple of times when I was teaching with Michele Saee at Otis.
They worked together on Kate Mantilini at Morphosis & are entirely responsible for its design.
I credit both of them with radically redefining the Morphosis' aesthetic, which Thom & Michael have deployed to the present, even after their split.
I was lucky enough to take a vertical studio with eric. I'll miss him dearly.
So shocking to learn he has passed. I was very fortunate to have him for 2 studios and had been inspired by him profoundly. His unique analytical point of view and able to communicate his ideas eloquently was something that had a great affect on me.
Still remember he brought his elec. guitar and played at the main hall in SCI-Arc. Students gathered and listened to him just play whatever that came to him. He created space with music.
He will be missed and sad this earth won't see more great work from him. Rest in peace.
