NURTURE: Lehigh Living Cultural Center

AIA COTE Top Ten Student Design Competition Winner

Prioritizing people as the most sustainable solution. This project seeks to nurture its future citizens into a green lifestyle, ultimately facilitating a positive growth for the future of Bethlehem. The site houses a “new foundation” dedicated to supporting and nurturing the people of Bethlehem, Pa. Offering a range of educational, art and community outreach opportunities paired with recreation, the project integrates the people into the natural landscape. The raised pathway connects visitors through programs, creating a narrative of an individuals experience. The transparency and flexibility of the building allows for a range of cultural uses, and manages long term potential and life cycle costs. The green practices on-site will be understood and learned through visitors, and planned and incorporated into the city’s context.
