FAITH: International Architectural Competition

Competition sponsored by COMBO Competition

Competition Title: FAITH

International Competiton: London, England.

Project Title: Nourishing our Faith

Objective: To design a place of worship and a place of knowledge.

Proposal: We live in an ever-changing and diverse world where faith and hope have diminished and other worldly materialistic icons now fill our lives. By sharing our faith with others or helping others in need we can restore faith in humanity and grow with one another regardless of our differences. The structure is broken into three programs: the church, soup kitchen, and multiple walkways. The church is in the center with the scafolding structure wrapping around it drawing people in to come worship. The entrance to the soup kitchen lies on the second level raised off of the ground by columns. The area on the ground around the church works as a park where people can rest, walk sit and reflect. The multi-level walkways attract an outdoor occupancy allowing the visitors to relax and socialize. The soup kitchen can feed and provide help to people in need. Volunteers from any faith or background can assist those in need. By helping and providing service to those in need, people from various backgrounds can share their faith with one another. Service is an important aspect in any religion, and through the soup kitchen, people can restore their faith in one another and open their minds to become betters stewards of God.
