Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center is an institution created for the young contemporary dancers of New York City. Its vision is to empower the youth  by giving them a platform to express their inner strength and emotions through Dance. ‘Dance is my Oxygen’ is Dwana Smallwood’s  motto. She believes dance will give life and energy to these young dancers to break free from the shackles of their suppressed emotions. 
This Energy is what was our inspiration in the design process of DSPAC. We used the air volumes created during a dance movement to depict the field of energy and force. This air volume contains a dancers passion, emotion, and inner force. Through these forces we tried to depict Dwana’s ambition into our design.
