Design for the Amsterdam metro's Signal, Energy and Telecom Building at the ‘Zuid-as’ in Amsterdam. The Zuid-as is a large, rapidly developing business district in the city of Amsterdam. The building will provide traction and energy for it’s metro system, including the new constructed ‘Noord-Zuidlijn’. The Noord-Zuidlijn is Amsterdam’s mayor infrastructural project and will connect the northern district with the city in the near future. MOPET expressed the force that the building will provide by a powerful, robust appearance that refers to the sheet piles which are being uses for constructing the underground metro system. It is located in a green zone, surrounded by an extensive network of infrastructure (Amsterdam’s ring road, metro and railways) and adapts to that infrastructural landscape by becoming the landscape itself.
