Lots of disagreements to be had on the surface, yes, but down deep we all want and believe in the same things, AND we all agree that clients, while valuable and necessary, are often a huge pain in the ass.
In all seriousness I am ALWAYS down to meet another Archinecter at any time. But most people avoid Indianapolis.

I'd sit down with b3ta ... my guess is that we'd agree more in person than we do online.
I wouldn't ever sit down with Ken Koense though. Can't stand that guy.
wait a second there... something doesn't add up.
I'd rather work with Non than have coffee with him. That should be another thread topic ... name your Archinect dream team.
what about beers? Guinness specifically.
I see an Archinect series here: Two Architects in an Uber drinking Guinness
I think I'd still rather work with you than drink with you. You should take that as a compliment. If you want to have a Guinness or two, I won't stop you as long as it doesn't affect your work.
Non we're still due for a guinness...
^Yes we are Bench. Any plans to head back north?
Planning to head back for the break, however timing's looking pretty unlikely at this point unfortunately... busy time of year
Busy, as expected, also... But I won't be leaving town so, you know how to reach me if you have any down time. 8-)
Sounds good, I have many thoughts to vent on the local sports team fiasco. Obviously.
Is Brad Pitt on Archinect? 'Cause, you know...
Donna Sink, but it would be bourbon not coffee.
But truly there are a lot of interesting folks on here but if we are having a popularity contest someone has to be the winner.
Over and OUT
Peter N
Okay, okay... Donna then. Sheesh. ;o]
OneLostArchitect, perfect timing :) https://archinect.com/news/art...
Haha! Just saw that! Pretty cool!
i'd like to pound some whiskeys and watch miles cut down patrik.
OMG you guys are all so funny and smart and snarky and cool, how could I ever pick just one?!? I honestly think that most architects can get along with one another on a fairly primal level.
Donna, that's like 1200km away...
OK wait. This doesn’t negate anything I said in the post above, but based on his/her comment on this thread alone I really want to sit down and have a drink with randomised. https://archinect.com/forum/thread/150099120/novicearchitect . OMG I can’t stop laughing.
Cheers!
randomised
What kind of boutonniere are you sporting? We have great coffeeshops over here, see you soon!

Difficult to choose, simply just for starting the Thread Central and Proust Questionnaire threads I'd buy a coffee for abracadabra, for introducing me to some great music through some of you I'd like to have a coffee with gruen for starting the What music are you listening to? thread, for the music posted in that thread I wouldn't mind sipping a cup with tintt and the infamous Chris T. in any of his incarnations. To hear the accent in person I'd see if Per Correll still exists, and introduce him to Rick B. for tea (I think they would get along great).
Yes, the 3DH-guru
aw tanks, rando. I'd love to come to Rotterdam for a cup of coffee. I'll see what I can do...
Quondam
I find that I’m currently walking down the mountain. Just not happy with the profession and all the negativity surrounded by it. I’m trying to do something about it.
The reason I mentioned you was because a comment you made in a Q&A thread someone posted awhile back. It struck a chord with me one of your responses. Also always intrigued by your website and wanted to learn more about it.
Thanks for you insight. You are wise and You are right on making your own mountain. I need to do that. I’m just not sure what that is yet.
No it wasn’t the celosia cristata :)
Thanks for you insight. You are wise and You are right on making your own mountain. I need to do that. I’m just not sure what that is yet.
No it wasn’t the celosia cristata :)
citizen, Donna, Brad Pitt, in no particular order
I think the order is important here Tintt... do you really want to have coffee with Brad after Donna had her turn?
No way that Brad has an archinect account, does he?
Sure he does!
Really? What's his username here?
( o Y o )
Are those eyes or.... never mind.
nah, I'm good.
.
You're still alive?
Some think so, but I am with the Diablo and see everything;)))))
carrera was cool
def Paul. A cup by cup “retrospective interview.” Watching to determine if it’s certain people or the caffeine making him twitch as time goes by.
Many folks on here I like and/or admire enough to sit down with. Unfortunately, I don't know everyone strictly by screen name plus my memory stinks. So, off the top, in no particular order, and with apologies for glaring omissions:
Donna, tintt, Thayer-D, Non Sequitur, Quizzical, poop876 (but only if s/he pays), Greenlander, randomised, puddles... I know I'm forgetting some folks, and will publish an addendum ;o]
If it's a fairly significant addendum, we're going to need it 7 days before bid date.
I'm always down for a cup (or 3)... but pints are where the magic really happens.
LOL, senjohn. Can I fax it?
Only if I can fax in my bid modification.
Fine! I'll pay!
AND I'm having a latte, not just a small coffee.
Lattes before 10:30. Pints till 3:30. Then champagne the rest of the day.
I don't drink caffeine or alcohol. Can I pick someone to vape herbal tea with?
So long as it is not peppermint or a peppery chai...
Vape? Gross.

Never came across that archinector, what's his handle?
This is a fun thread
All the fun stories and gossip that could emerge via raucous voices and arm-waving, instead of keyboard typing and misconstrued text....
don't forget coast drawings. So many coasters would be lost to all those doodles.
I don't drink coffee.
get outttta here
I'm on the decaf - doctor's orders.
I drink tea. We can have tea together and talk about those miserable coffee drinkers.
Miserable? Pfffffff. Just wait until I have my first 3 cups of the morning, then we can throw down.
atelier, you need a new doctor
I'll take you on after you have your three cups NS. I'll be sober and still win. Wait, are we fighting or doing door hardware specs?
um... I was talking about Foosball. but I can do hardware if that's what you fancy.
Foosball it is then! You want to come to CO or do I fly to Canada eh?
Last time I checked, and maybe I need a Balkin'esque serving of wiki copy/paste fact checking, but Canada is big. I do like the beer scene in CO... wait, were we not talking about coffee? Eu, it's already been a long week.
Colorado is also rather big. I mean I could send you to the eastern half of the state, or as I like to call it, Nebraska.
why would anyone want to go to Nebraska?
I spent a month driving across Nebraska one weekend.
You go through Nebraska to get somewhere else.
Just sitting down to a cup of freshly roasted hand-ground Sumatra light roast, black.
Whoever's behind Non Sequitur seems pretty interesting to say the least.
It's not a who but a collection of self aware MasterSpec programs.
sssssshut-up.
Hehehehe
Yes, exactly who is behind this 'Non Sequitur'? My money's on some sort of Canadian hockey cabal. (Ca-ho-bal?)
Citizen, hockey is played with a short rubber cylinder, not a ball.
I believe it's called a phuck.
"played with a short rubber cylinder"
You just had to take this into the gutter, didn't you?
Yes, I had to. No choice.
What kind of coffee cup do you use? I think a vessel says a lot about who you are. I was gifted this one, but I actually like it. I would prefer a black stoneware/earthenware type of tumbler though.
As long as you drink it with a straw you're good.
bendy or?
Twisty straws!
My mug is a big ceramic Dino foot from Disney world.
Spectacle straw
I have a few of those over-engineered, over-priced yeti mugs. They hold up. I only purchased one of them myself. The rest were given to me by reps. I even have a few knock-offs from reps too ... but I don't specify their stuff anymore, lol
P.S. great thread to resurrect
I hate those Yeti cups for coffee....the coffee is too hot for my taste!
I agree with that. This one often comes in handy when my coffee sits on my desk for about an hour before I even remember to drink it. By that time, perfect temp!
I agree with the keeping things too hot. We expect some heat loss with normal mugs that just doesn't happen unless you leave it for an hour or more without a lid on. I've started adding an ice cube or two to get the temp down for immediate consumption. They also work great for keeping drinks cold. My mug full of ice will last all afternoon with multiple fill ups.
Multiple fills per afternoon of an iced beverage? I think I'm picking up what you're putting down
No ice in my single-malt please.
I've heard that a splash of water actually enhances the flavor. I also don't drink scotch often so th is is based on hearsay
Some say so... I'm sure more than one such discussion ends up in fisticuffs but splash of water =/= ice.
Basically, the loser would be the individual that needs to water down their scotch, in either instance.
Lol, no scotch in my mug. Just some water. Don’t let this stop your fun though, carry on.
Whiskey and diet coke. What can I say, I'm a type 1 diabetic.
If there's a will there's a way!
@Chad, just be careful...alcohol blocks the liver from releasing glycogen. I find that a splash of juice/mixer in a cocktail counters that quite nicely, and frees me up a bit when looking at the menu.
Oh I'm careful. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years. I monitor things really closely. Thank you for the tip though!

*looking for like button*
.
Ummm nothing like piping hot coffee running close to face.
I must be good for circulation, or something like that
Let me clarify.. *it
No, no, you're good for circulation. Don't sell yourself short.
damn it ha
I'm in Colorado so we all drink coffee from . . .
When you look up “wake and bake” on the internet
Anyone who clears the background check would be fine.
Damn.
Ted Bundy didn’t have a criminal record for at least a decade
I like that creativity!
citizen, you're a funny guy. https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=82S39Xohjws
Hey, I'll take Rita Rudner funny: "Ours is a childless marriage. Except for my husband."
I tell my husband he is my oldest kid. He doesn't think it's funny.
Outlier :O]
he doesn't like rita rudner? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou5wFeF-980
I'm kind of a Steven Wright guy...sorry
for NS, like real non-sequiturs bruh -
Mitch Hedberg is a national treasure. I'm planning a mass global walkout to protest naming him the 9th wonder of the world.
I will join you on that walkout sir. Would you be able to provide a note to my firm explaining my absence though?
^I certainly will provide said note. This is certainly a situation where we need to bring in ink and paper.
HA! We should wear Slappy the Frog t-shirts as well.
Hell, yeah! Meeting adjourned! I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.
Giggle.
NS you're a genius!
randomised
To be honest here, when I was in college earning my degree, I pretty much didn't want to drink coffee with many of you so I doubt that I would change my mind at this point.
Being older and wiser, I would bet that the number is even lower since my college days.
Nobody wants to have coffee with you either. Win-win!
I'm currently drinking some coffee... so technically, I'm having coffee with you!
See. Who ever said honesty was the best policy.
I'm having coffee right now too!
Non Sequitur
I'm new here and 're-training' from ID at 30 years young, so don't know many, but Non seems interesting and Canadian I presume?
Correct on both points. Welcome. I take my coffee black. Please ensure there is steady supply. Day-old brew is fine with me.
Interesting and Canadian is an oxymoron .
hey now...
It's done out of luv.
.
Platonic, hetero-lifemate type of luv.
AKA best friends? Dunno what hetero has to do with it, what if one person is gay?
It's a joke from a Canadian-sih comedy duo.
Kevin Smith, sure. As a joke from a comedian it's clever. As a meme it loses the necessary context.
Only if you don't know the characters. You knew who the were and the joke. You're just trying create some drama, try harder next time.
You say "trying to create some drama", I say "pointing out that simply because a comedian says something doesn't make it something you should use in daily speech because it's not intended for that, duh."
Still trying to create drama. Keep trying.
Damn it, Chad. Stop being such a Chad.
.
Either I'm not a fool or you're terribly unhappy, Chad.
Reminds me of hanging chads.
And while imitation is the most sincere form of flattery it would be nice if he came up with his own memes instead of copying mine.
I forgot where I first saw it else I would have given you credit Miles.
^Sneaky, yes, you are right.
Do I at least get a cup of coffee after all these email notifications?
Only if you come to Colorado. I must be honest though, I don't drink coffee so I can't claim to know if it's any good.
Non, sure. Maple latte? Addicted since Starbucks brought it to the UK as an autumn seasonal!
I can have a maple latte any damn time of the year I want too. Right now tho, it's all about the pumpkins.... it's all about the pumpkins yeah.
You're Canadian, everything is maple flavored where you live.
You can't swing a dead cat around this place without knocking over a delicious syrup bottle.
Even the bottles are delicious in Canada .
I bet even the dead cats taste like syrup in Canada.
I almost just spat out my coffee reading these last 2 comments.
So, where's the geographic line dividing those who have coffee from those who have a coffee?
(This is important. I have work to avoid!)
One can never have just one coffee.
. Donna
. Steven Ward
. Beta
. Greg Walker
. Miles
. tintt
. geezertect
Just way when and where and I'll be there.
Anyone tbh- it's a coffee!! The only person I know that's in Canada- maybe Ontario if I'm remembering right is NS.
There are a few canucks here... not all live here tho as some are in exile.
exile-haha see comments like that is what would make the coffee convo interesting...where are you guys come backkkk
Probably forgetting some...pretty much anyone who leaves thoughtful comments that are different/contrary to my own. (otherwise the conversation would be too boring).
Thanks Sean but be warned... I drink lots of coffee.
(Gracious bow) thank you for the cuppa
@ Java Nation around 2:30 any day. It’s on me.
Cheers Sean ... I'd definitely sit down for a coffee with you.
I take that as a compliment, Sean! I see we're local, so it could actually happen. I suppose I'll need to shave, though =O/
myself
[Just re-read thread title. Fighting urge to correct grammar, since that will surely kick me off of some folks' lists. Damn!]
Hah!
Non Sequitur for sure ;)
I'm always up for a cup of coffee (or three).
