Located on a small barrier island, Maine Coast House is inspired by the working boathouses and fishing shacks found along the shoreline. Breaking the overall volume of the structure into segments helped integrate it seamlessly into the site, evoking tumbled boulders from the ocean’s nearby edge. A cladding of weathered cedar and stone likewise stands in perfect harmony with the hues of nature.
“It’s a magical place. Who would ever want to leave?”
