The Woodward Garden Theater Venue, located in Midtown Detroit is composed of the historic Garden Theater (originally designed by Howard C. Crane,) two office buildings from the same period, and a new contemporary atrium connecting them all for a total of 35,000-square-foot. The collection and analysis of the complex program components was of utmost importance to facilitate a smooth transition into design. Operational management, historical integrity, acoustic sensitivity, and structural analysis all played key roles in defining the multifunctional uses of the project. The Venue's primary function is live music performance for 1,150 guests, but will also accommodate business and political speaking engagements, banquets, seminars, and small stage performances.
