Detroit, MI | Birmingham, MI
This two phase project was a collaboration between Midtown Detroit Inc and Will Leather Goods to create a distinctive retail experience. Formerly Tomboy Market, the mid-century building has many existing materials that were preserved like terrazzo, ceramic tile, and wood flooring on the mezzanine. The program focused on creating a destination that goes far beyond a typical retail shop, which includes a coffee bar, personalization work stations, a hat maker area, a community art gallery, and specific "departments" for each WILL catalogue line. Reclaimed materials like douglas fir beams and a salvaged wood counter from the Detroit Fire Department Headquarters enhance the space. A new douglas fir storefront and skylights wash the retail floor with ample natural light. The various merchandise paired with the vast yet warm space makes for a unique shopping experience that showcases the WILL brand.WILL LEATHER GOODS
