Detroit Living: Eastern Market Mixed-Use Proposal

This project is intended to be a narrative about Detroit Living. It is expected that each student will claim a position with regard to urban living, its essential infrastructures, energy flows, and public space. What is the significant purpose or mission of this project? Who (and what) is most important to consider, serve, or address? This position or point of view will be illustrated by an architectural design. This narrative should be an interpretation and speculation about urban living as told through design and each project should constitute a proposition as to how architecture can enable city living. Therefore, the following specific infrastructural systems will be designed and developed:

  • housing
  • living infrastructure
  • small boxes
  • commercial
  • community infrastructure
  • white box
  • public space
  • green-blue-grey infrastructure
  • patches, connectors, networks, fields
  • parking
  • transportation infrastructure
  • storage of automobiles and bicycles
