Interior Design Project Manager and project interior designer for a new five level, 295 bed student housing building creating a new gateway to the campus. The building included suite accommodations for students and a 5,000 SF student commons building, envisioned as the front porch to the housing the commons building was enclosed fully in glass and included lounges and recreation areas. This project included complete interior design services including furniture and art selection.
Designed to assist AUM reach their goal of increasing the percentage of students living on campus, this 150,000-square-foot residence hall provides a mix of single, double, and triple occupancy apartment-style units with a total of 293 beds. Common lounge areas and study rooms are located on each floor in addition to an expansive student common area on the main floor that includes recreational rooms, multi-purpose rooms, administrative offices and a main lounge. The five-level building relates to the existing campus context through the use of similar materials and exterior details including “AUM-Blend” brick and pre-cast concrete detailing, while the overall design aesthetic respectfully pushes the campus vernacular beyond its original Brutalist architectural characteristics in an innovative, sensitive way.
