11 Dexter Avenue Office

14,500 SF headquarters office building. The exterior of the building was designed to work with the historic context of Crestline Village. The interior office was designed with large open spaces for work and informal gathering, containing exposed steel trusses and clerestory windows for natural light. This project included complete interior design services including furniture and art selection.

11 Dexter Avenue is a new corporate headquarters designed to conform to the village architecture in Crestline Village with traditional brick detailing and a slate roof. The Building consists of a 5,600 square foot office opening directly on Dexter Avenue built above a single level of parking opening onto the alley behind the site. The entrance is marked by an oversize custom wood and glass entry door that opens into a vaulted reception space with exposed steel trusses and stained wood ceiling. A conference room is separated from the reception space by a glass wall that is punctuated with a storage unit clad in reclaimed oak which provides privacy. A corridor leads to a central open collaborative working space flooded in light from clearstory windows. Work rooms and glass front offices open off of this central space. A small corridor leads to a raised exterior deck and garden. Light colored terrazzo floors tie the spaces together.

11 Dexter Avenue was recognized for design excellence by the Birmingham Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 2015.
